Flood Warning issued June 30 at 2:43AM CDT until June 30 at 6:45AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of South Central Kansas, including the following counties, Kingman, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 645 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 243 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Wichita, Derby, Haysville, Mulvane, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Norwich, Cunningham, Viola, Murdock, Waterloo, Willowdale, Cleveland, Penalosa, Lake Afton, Kingman Airport and Riverdale. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Flood Watch issued June 30 at 2:38AM CDT until June 30 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of South Central Kansas, including the following counties, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until noon CDT today. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
