Flash Flood Warning issued June 29 at 10:12PM MDT until June 29 at 11:15PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM At 1012 PM MDT, While heavy rain has been letting up over the warned area, between 0.75 and 2.25 inches of rain have fallen from earlier thunderstorms and additional storms are expected to move in through the late evening. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding will continue. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Albuquerque, South Valley and North Valley. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 146 and 159. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 216 and 219...and between Mile Markers 223 and 225. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay out of flood channels and arroyos! Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
